• Starting salary £73,000 per annum.

Dragon is seeking a highly experienced and knowledgeable Mechanical Engineer to join our Engineering team. The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for managing mechanical engineering and project activities associated with the safe and efficient operation of the Dragon LNG terminal. The role holder will support the Engineering Manager in driving process safety, plant integrity and reliability; developing mechanical engineering and maintenance strategies; and managing major and minor projects through to implementation, while ensuring compliance with legislative, industry and site requirements.

Summary of Responsibilities:

• Mechanical Engineering Leadership – Providing technical leadership and support across all mechanical engineering activities, working closely with Operations and Maintenance to maintain plant safety, reliability and availability.
• Asset Integrity and Process Safety – Maintaining mechanical equipment using a risk-based approach and providing discipline assurance for mechanical safety-critical equipment, including performance-standard compliance, impairment management and auditable risk controls.
• Inspection and Statutory Compliance – Ensuring statutory inspections under PSSR are completed, Written Schemes of Examination are maintained and inspection anomalies are appropriately assessed, progressed and closed out.
• Maintenance and Reliability Strategy – Developing strategies for preventive maintenance, condition monitoring, inspection and risk-based assessment across rotating equipment, pressure systems and other mechanical assets.
• Equipment Performance and Troubleshooting – Monitoring mechanical equipment performance, identifying faults and bad actors, reviewing condition-monitoring information and leading root cause analysis to resolve operating problems.
• Management of Change – Acting as the Mechanical Technical Authority within the MOC process, advising on plant modifications and contributing to HAZOP, LOPA and other safety-related reviews.
• Engineering Projects – Providing mechanical engineering support and assurance throughout the project lifecycle, reviewing design documents and ensuring discipline deliverables comply with the Project Management System.
• Pressure Systems and Structural Equipment – Providing technical support and assurance for the modification, repair and ongoing integrity of pressure systems and structural equipment.
• People and Contract Management – Supervising and developing team members, supporting apprentices and acting as Contract Owner for key mechanical engineering contracts.
• Budget and Continuous Improvement – Managing mechanical engineering operational and capital expenditure, contributing to the five-year Engineering Improvement Plan and championing improvements to engineering systems, processes and procedures.

Key Skills & Experience:

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
• Chartered Engineer status or actively working towards it.
• Significant mechanical engineering and maintenance experience within an oil or gas processing plant.
• Strong practical and technical knowledge of rotating equipment, including pumps, compressors and fans, and static equipment such as heat exchangers and valves.
• Experience supervising and providing technical guidance to others.
• Knowledge of the health, safety and environmental requirements associated with a top-tier COMAH installation.
• Knowledge of Written Schemes of Examination and the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
