Ground broken at Dragon LNG marks another step in its energy efficiency and decarbonisation plan
Friday 17th June 2022 was a significant date in Dragon LNG’s decarbonisation journey.
Rt. Hon Stephen Crabb officially broke the ground on a Dragon LNG Group solar project witnessed by key stakeholders from Anesco Ltd, South Wales Industrial Cluster, the Milford Haven Future Energy Cluster, Pembrokeshire County Council, Welsh Government, Community Liaison Committee and Dragon’s community.
Tom Sawyer, CEO of the Port of Milford Haven, shared the Milford Haven Waterway Future Energy Cluster’s vision to be a significant exporter of low carbon electricity and hydrogen by the 2040’s, which could add an additional 3,000 Welsh jobs to the 5,000 already supported by the Milford Haven Waterway energy sector, whilst significantly reducing emissions.
The 14.67 hectare, 18,500 solar panel farm developed by Dragon Group’s Milford Energy entity will provide the site with up to 9% of its electricity needs when the development goes live in Q4 2022.
Reading based solar and battery storage leader, Anesco Ltd, are delivering the design and construction phase and will then maintain the solar park for five years.

There is a clear vision emerging for a low carbon future that includes both new projects such as floating offshore wind and hydrogen, but also for the measures that existing operators such as Dragon LNG are taking to develop their own renewable strategies. This ground breaking ceremony event was an opportunity to celebrate and acknowledge Dragon LNG’s own renewable journey and contribution to this emerging energy vision for Pembrokeshire.”
