HSE Field Officer – Fixed Term Contract
- Full time, 12-month fixed term contract
- Salary £45,000 per annum.
Dragon is seeking a proactive and hands-on HSE Field Officer to join our experienced HSE team. The role holder will engage and influence across the organisation to promote a strong health, safety and environmental culture, ensuring compliance with HSE regulations and legislation across site operations.
This is a site-focused role, where the successful candidate will provide practical support to resolve HSE challenges, act as a key point of contact for personal safety risk management, and champion best practice across the organisation.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Promoting HSE Culture – Actively engaging with teams across site to influence behaviours, champion best practice, and support the delivery of a positive safety culture.
- Risk Assessment & Assurance – Carrying out risk assessments, inspections, and internal and external audits to ensure compliance with legislative and company requirements.
- Incident Investigation & Learning – Leading or supporting accident, incident, and near miss investigations, ensuring timely close-out of actions and embedding organisational learning.
- Compliance & Legal Assurance – Supporting the organisation in meeting statutory obligations, maintaining HSE legal registers, and ensuring adherence to COMAH and other regulatory requirements.
- HSE Systems & Continuous Improvement – Supporting the development, review, and continuous improvement of HSE policies, procedures, and the Environmental Management System.
- Reporting & Performance Monitoring – Producing statistical and management reports to support performance tracking and informed decision-making.
- Stakeholder Support & Advice – Providing practical HSE advice and guidance to teams across the organisation, building strong and collaborative working relationships.
- Safety Initiatives & Engagement – Supporting safety awareness programmes and actively participating in the Health and Safety Committee to drive engagement and communication.
- Visible Site Presence – Spending time on site to monitor activities, support safe systems of work, and positively influence safe behaviours.
Key Skills & Experience:
- NEBOSH Certificate / Diploma or equivalent qualification.
- Experience working within an HSE environment or similar role.
- Experience within the oil and gas or petrochemical industry.
- Knowledge of health, safety and environmental requirements associated with an upper tier COMAH installation.
- Competent in risk assessment, risk identification, and risk management techniques.
- Knowledge of permit to work systems and life-saving rules.
- Strong communication and influencing skills.
- Highly organised with good attention to detail and the ability to work as part of a team.
