Dragon is recruiting for an experienced Head of Commercial & Legal to lead our Company’s commercial function. This is a pivotal role within the Senior Management Team, accountable for shaping and driving our commercial agenda, safeguarding our business interests, and creating long-term value through effective contract management, proactive risk mitigation, and robust stakeholder engagement.
As a trusted advisor to the Board and Leadership Team, the role plays a key part in guiding the strategic direction of the organisation, ensuring compliance, sustainability, and continued growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the Company’s commercial, legal, and contracts & procurement (C&P) functions, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
Oversee governance for all commercial and legal activities.
Direct the negotiation, analysis, and management of all major commercial contracts.
Oversee vendor assurance, procurement compliance, and contractor management.
Provide commercial input to new business development and future opportunities.
Manage internal and external legal resources effectively and cost-efficiently.
Ensure compliance with all obligations under major agreements, notably the Throughput Agreement.
Lead the Commercial Operations team, ensuring strong customer relationships and compliance with terminal agreements.
Lead, mentor, and develop the Commercial team to achieve a high-performance culture aligned with company values.
Provide strategic input across corporate governance, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.
Champion visible safety leadership and serve as a core member of the Crisis Management Team (with on-call responsibilities).
Key Skills and Experience:
Significant commercial management experience in a senior role within the energy industry.
Proven legal management experience within the energy industry.
Experience at Leadership Team level, providing strategic direction and governance input.
Demonstrable experience of leading and developing a team.
Proven ability to manage budgets effectively and drive value creation.
Strong background in risk management and mitigation.
Solid experience in contracts and procurement, including vendor assurance and compliance.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage at all levels.
Results-oriented, with a commitment to quality, efficiency, and timely delivery.
