Dragon LNG recently unveiled their charity of the year as Blood Bikes Wales.

Blood Bikes Wales is a registered charity set up to help relieve the pressure on the NHS. The charity provides a transportation system to convey essential supplies – on weekends and public holidays. The charity has recently started their service in Pembrokeshire and hopes to be able to raise enough money to be able to have another motor bike within the county. Without Blood Bike Wales, out of hours, the NHS use taxis and ambulances to transport the urgent supplies – such as blood, breast milk plasma and documents. The bikes can get through the traffic quicker and saves the NHS money as well as freeing the ambulances to go to medical emergencies.

Phil Harries, Pembrokeshire coordinator, recently came to Dragon LNG to give a presentation to the staff and contractors. Phil said ‘Our charity is completely dependent on donations from companies and the public. We hope that by being Dragon LNG’s Charity of the year it will help raise our profile within Pembrokeshire and make people more aware of us. We are constantly looking for volunteers so if you have an advanced riding qualification and have some spare time get in touch with us.”

Lynette Fenwick, PR and Facilities coordinator commented ‘Our charity of the year is nominated by our staff. Blood Bikes Wales is close to the hearts of many of our employees here at Dragon LNG. We plan to do a number of fundraising events throughout the year within the company and a number of our employees are arranging their own events outside work also.’
