LNG Carriers

Dragon LNG will work with the Milford Haven Port Authority to assure shipping operations are carried out safely with minimum disruption to other port users. LNG carriers are constructed with double hulls and insulated storage tanks to prevent leakage or rupture even in the event of collision or grounding. They are fitted with sophisticated systems that monitor the condition of the cargo, and constantly check for leakage. The ships use radar, global positioning and communications technology to constantly monitor their course, speed and position and that of other vessels nearby. The LNG ship's officers and crew undergo extensive training to meet internationally recognized standards.

Special articulated arms will be used to transfer LNG from the ship. When the loading or unloading operations are taking place, the ship and terminal will be connected by means of a special communications system that enables cargo transfer to be shut down very rapidly in an emergency.

Dragon LNG are working with the UK Security Services to assure security of the ships, jetty and onshore LNG facilities. Operation of the jetty will also comply with the International Ship and Port facility Security Code (ISPS), International Maritime Organisation.
